Oceans are our most valuable asset.
The ocean is the single largest habitat on our planet.
Our oceans provide us with 70% of the planet’s oxygen and regulate the earth’s temperature to make human life possible.
Living without the ocean is simply not viable.
Our oceans are under threat.
Industry Pollution
Over 35% of all microplastic released into the world’s oceans are from the shedding of microfibres from synthetic textiles. By 2050 an estimated 22 million tons of microfibre will have entered our oceans.
Plastic Pollution
8 million tons of plastic enters the oceans every year. Ocean plastics and its contaminants have been found in the deepest part of the ocean causing devastation to marine life. It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
Ocean Health
Ocean pollution continues to threaten human health, food sources, aquatic wildlife and marine ecosystems. Ocean diversity and productivity is vital for human survival. Our future relies on the health of our oceans.
OUR VISION
To create a global solution for clean oceans.
OUR MISSION
To help families save money and protect our oceans.
Committed to Sustainability
Materials
At Piping Hot we choose materials and production techniques that minimise environmental impact. We prioritise using recycled materials to conserve resources. Our sustainability methodology is based on reducing resource consumption as we create necessary circular design solutions.
Design
We have introduced circular design principles. We avoid using blended materials to enable regeneration. Piping Hot garments are designed with minimal trims and accessories. We prioritise quality and functionality to extend the life of our products.
Transparency
At Piping Hot we rely on certifications to ensure that we are sourcing recycled materials. Our supply chain is audited annually from raw material to product ensuring the content is recycled. We know who makes our clothes and are proud to have 100% transparency of our Tier 1 and Tier 2 supply chain partners.
100% Sustainable Materials
Every Piping Hot product is made with low-impact materials. All of our products are made with materials that use less water, energy and waste than conventional options.
Our material choices save water and energy to conserve resources that threaten ocean health.
Recycled Fibres
Recycled polyester is our sustainable choice for swim, apparel, accessories and footwear. Recycled polyester uses 62% less energy, 99% less water and expels 35% less waste than conventional polyester. By sourcing post-consumer recycled plastic material we grow demand for recycling. Currently less than 10% of plastics are recycled globally.
Our T-shirts are made with cotton including discarded yarn that is usually thrown out during the production process. By using recycled cotton Piping Hot conserves water and prevents waste from going to landfill. No water is used in the recycling process which saves the water commonly used in conventional cotton production.
Measuring Our Impact
Less Water
At Piping Hot we choose fibres that use minimal water. We use industry data, ISO-14001 and LCA’s to assess water use throughout a material’s life cycle. We use efficient dye processes. No harmful chemicals are released into waterways.
Less Energy
At Piping Hot we source recycled fibres to reduce our carbon footprint and avoid the use of finite resources. Using recycled plastic as a raw material source offsets using new petroleum to conserve energy.
Less Waste
At Piping Hot we use recycled materials in our fabrics to divert waste from entering landfill and waterways. We apply circular design principles to allow for end of life recycling of our garments.
